Overview:

Most of the teachers I've meet seem to agree that to become a good teacher, you've had to have great teachers in the past. I was fortunate to have a great guitar teacher growing up, and he opened my eyes and ears to the amazing world of guitars and music. I wouldn't be the same person without this experience. His patience and understanding of the instrument left a lasting impression on me, and I try to leave this same impression when I teach...

Private lesson's are the most effective way to really learn an instrument. The half-hour lessons are designed to give the student enough stimulation and information for a week of effective practice. The teacher generally provides "what you NEED to learn" with a little of "what you WANT to learn."

Scheduling:

Please Note*
24hrs. notice is required for lesson cancellation. The school will allow one lesson a month to be rescheduled, based on the teachers availability.

Faculty:

I'd like to briefly introduce some of our teachers to Red House Music Academy. The website in the future will provide more info on each teacher, as well as pictures of our smiling faces!

Drum students are slowly coming in as well, so if you know anyone who has a burning desire to play drums, Adam Hay is your guy! Our percussion/drum teacher, Adam Hay, has a ton of experience teaching at all levels and ages, and is a very patient and all around good guy! He came highly recommended! Here's Adam's Bio: www.adamhay.net

Todd Lefever will teaching Mondays at the moment. Todd and myself grew up in Medicine Hat playing in bands by the time we were 14. Todd is a graduate of the world-class music program of Edmonton’s Grant MacEwan College, where he majored in performance. He has continuously worked in the music industry as a recording artist, a performer, and a guitar instructor.

He's an awesome guitar teacher, and if I had kids, they would be taking guitar from Todd. Period. Here's Todd's Bio: www.myspace.com/TLefever

Connie Grant

Connie taught piano for many years in Mississauga at studios and also privately. She sang with the group “Timothy” in Toronto along with many other solo performances on guitar and piano.

She has degrees from Ontario College of Art and Design and The University of Guelph where she studied musicianship, music history and opera. She has certificates from the Royal Conservatory of Music for piano and theory.

Connie enjoys teaching all styles of music from pop to classical and all age groups and believes that it’s never too late to learn to play.

School Features:

The school will feature 6 music rooms, a sunny reception room with wifi, a patio, and a recording studio! What? A recording studio? As some people know, I've been a freelance engineer/producer for the last 10 years, with all types of bands and musicians. I find recording is a very important part of becoming a complete musician, and students will be encouraged to record songs as they develop; whether it's one of their own compositions, favorite song, or a band that they've put together. **There is a discount for students of Red House Music Academy**

"The Band"

This real practice session will be an additional program,(depending on students availability) that will include students and faculty from the other instruments, playing together. This will have to 2 levels, beginner and intermediate.

Putting a "band" together, and playing you favorite tunes is the best way to do this
. With this in mind, we've decided to incorporate this into the school. Students will have the option of joining a group, with other students, and working towards a "set" of 2 or possibly 3 songs to play. These songs will become part of your weekly lessons. We'll have rehearsal times, just like a professional band, and work towards putting the "set" together. The Shows will take place at "Opera Bob's Public House" just next to the school. I'd like to have at least 3 of these throughout the year.
